The bill that has emerged from closed-door negotiations between House and Senate Republicans remains deeply harmful to the working class, the elderly, and the sick. The only good news is that the bill retains the medical expense deduction which so many older Americans rely upon. The rest is bad news.
The GOP’s last-ditch effort to repeal and replace Obamacare received what appeared to be a fatal blow Monday evening when Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, announced her decision not to support the bill, becoming the crucial third Republican to oppose it.

We have been keeping an eye on Congress and their decisions during the Graham-Cassidy health care debate.
Her caution is well warranted. Anti-repeal advocates breathed a sigh of relief last Friday when Senator John McCain (R-AZ) announced his opposition to the bill. National Committee President and CEO Max Richtman sent letters on Tuesday to Senator John McCain (R-AZ), Senator Susan Collins (R-ME), Charles Grassley (R-IA), and Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN), urging them to vote against proposals to privatize Medicare, raise the Medicare eligibility age from 65 to 67, and repeal provisions in the Affordable Care Act that improved Medicare.
